CONSULTATIONS
I am always happy to see patients and parents before an anaesthetic or the insertion of a line or port. In the NHS all our patients are preassessed in a preadmission clinic where we take a history, organise and review investigations, and provide information about the anaesthetic.
Preassessment in the private sector is less common but most insurers will authorise a consultation before an anaesthetic if you have other illnesses or specific problems. If you have answered yes to any of the bold questions in your questionnaire, I may ask to see you to optimise your condition. Questionnaires can be found by clicking here for adults and here for children
I like to see all patients who need a port or line so we can discuss the best device for their treatment and ensure there are no other preparations we need to make for a successful operation. I undertake consultations at 9 Harley Street. This state of the art diagnostic centre, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, opened in 2008 to provide all the investigations under one roof. As well as being able to perform blood tests and ECGs, we can also undertake spirometry for lung function and manage patients who are on anticoagulants. We have our own X ray facility including CT and MRI together with ultrasound.
If you would like to see me, please contact 9 Harley Street on 020 7079 2100. You should ask your insurer for preauthorisation if you wish to reclaim the cost of my fees. Your insurer will also preauthorise you for any investigations and this number will allow 9 Harley Street to invoice your insurer on your behalf. If you do not have a preauthorisation number you will be asked to pay on the day.
Please note that I am a director of 9 Harley Street.
